Create Multi-Cluster Federation
Tip
Prepare the following information from the remote deployment before you start:
- The remote cluster ID (in the format
cls-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx): this can be copied from your browser’s address bar when viewing the remote cluster’s page.- The endpoint URL of the remote deployment (in the format
https://federation.example.com:5007).- An API key on the remote deployment that grants access to the federation endpoint.
Note
Any actions performed through the federation will use this API key, so ensure it has the necessary permissions. Refer to the Connectivity section for more details.
Important
The endpoint URL must use
https://when communicating across clusters due to the transmission of sensitive information.http://may be used for development or testing, or when the endpoint is on a trusted network. Do not usehttp://in production or on untrusted networks.
